I get it: there are so many places to visit, all of them wonderful, and time is always too short. So what’s the solution for spending, for example, 10 days in Sicily without stress?

The solution is to put your mental well-being before the understandable urge to see everything, with an itinerary designed to help you relax and truly enjoy this stunning land, without rushing and without stress.

Focus on your priorities, your desires, the things that truly matter to you, and let go of the rest, in a sort of decluttering of must-see stops. Traveling isn’t about punching a time clock; it’s about letting yourself be immersed in the spirit of the place you’re visiting and following it according to your own inclinations, embracing the side that makes you feel best.

During my first trip to Sicily, the strongest emotion I felt was in a citrus grove in Vendicari. I was with a friend and we had stopped to eat a fruit salad after a swim at Calamosche beach. It was there, surrounded by the saturated, sun-bleached colors of mid-September Sicily, that I realized that moment meant more to me than the church we hadn’t had time to visit that morning, a stop labeled unmissable by every guidebook.
Who cares, I thought, this wobbly little table among the lemon trees is the memory I want to take home with me.

And just to be clear, I’m not saying one thing is better than the other, quite the opposite. What I mean is: follow your own way of traveling, which may be different from others’ or from what’s considered mandatory, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Here’s a sample itinerary you can draw inspiration from for 10 days in Sicily without stress.

Day 1
Arrival at Catania Fontanarossa Airport.
Here you can rent a car (I recommend booking in advance) and set off freely toward Noto and your accommodation for the next three nights. If you need recommendations, don’t hesitate to ask.
Once you’ve freshened up, head out and explore this beautiful town like a flâneur. At sunset, it takes on a golden glow that’s hard to forget. Let yourself be tempted by one of the excellent restaurants for your first Sicilian dinner.

Day 2
In the morning, you can explore Ortigia. Wander through its narrow streets with laundry hanging overhead and, if you like, visit Castello Maniace or the Greek Theatre of Syracuse.
After lunch, light or hearty, depending on your appetite, you can head back toward Noto to visit the Vendicari Nature Reserve, including Marzamemi, the “tonnara”, and the wildlife oasis, where you can admire the local flora and fauna. After a swim at Calamosche, return to Noto for the evening.
If you’re traveling in peak summer, I suggest swapping morning and afternoon to avoid the heat.

Day 3
Dedicate this day to the area around Ragusa: Modica, Ragusa Ibla, Donnafugata Castle, choose what resonates most with you.
My advice is to take the less-traveled roads that wind through hills, dry-stone walls, olive trees, and carob trees.

Day 4
On the fourth day, it’s time to move from the main island (Sicily) to the small island (Salina, in the Aeolian Islands), where we at Frangimare will be ready to welcome you for the next four nights.
On your drive to Milazzo, you can stop in Taormina for a stroll, a second breakfast, or a light lunch. Taormina is a stunning town, but keep in mind that it can also be quite crowded.
Once in Milazzo, leave your car in a garage (again, I recommend booking in advance) and take the hydrofoil to Salina.
A refreshing dip in Frangimare’s pool and you’ll be ready for dinner.

Days 5, 6 and 7
During your stay at Frangimare, you can choose whatever you like most. Salina is a wonderful island, famous for its capers and Malvasia wine, offering endless possibilities: sea, mountains, tastings, boat trips on our Corsara, excellent cuisine, and breathtaking views.
After breakfast with a sea view, spend your day according to your inclinations, and above all, don’t hesitate to ask me for advice. I’ll be happy to help.

Day 8
It’s time to return to the main island and explore a bit more of it. After picking up your car in Milazzo, I recommend a visit to Capo Milazzo, whose marine protected area and the Pools of Venus might pleasantly surprise you.
Then drive to Catania, where you’ll stay for the next two nights, and immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant atmosphere for the evening.

Day 9
Dedicate this day entirely to exploring the towns around Mount Etna. You won’t regret it.

Day 10
Departure day, and the end of these 10 day in Sicily without stress. Return your car at the airport and treat yourself to one last cannolo or arancino as you reflect on the days you’ve just experienced.
I’m sure you’ll carry with you all the flavors, scents, and sensations of this enchanted land, and that you won’t wait long before coming back to explore it a little more.

Don’t hesitate to write or call me to learn more. Frangimare is waiting for you.
